Coming Home

Coming Home (to Christ)

Here, the warmth of Christian fellowship and the spirit of welcome create a place of refuge, belonging, and familial embrace. Guided by the principles of hospitality found in scripture, this section is dedicated to how we cultivate a sense of home within our church community.

"12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
Colossians 3:12-14(NIV)

A Biblical Foundation for Welcoming:

In the Bible, we find numerous passages emphasizing the importance of hospitality and welcoming one another. Hebrews 13:2 encourages us to "not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." This sentiment reflects our commitment to creating an environment where all who enter feel the love and care that Christ extends to each of us.

Fellowship Rooted in Love:

In 1 Peter 4:8, we are reminded that "above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins." This profound love serves as the cornerstone of our fellowship, creating a welcoming home for everyone who walks through our doors.

Building Community Through Connection:

From welcoming events to small groups and community gatherings, we are intentional about creating opportunities for individuals to find a sense of home within the larger church family. Acts 2:46-47 illustrates the essence of this community: "And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people."

At St. Timothy Lutheran Church, we see our congregation as a diverse and loving family. In Ephesians 2:19, we are reminded that "you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God." As members of God's household, we extend the hand of fellowship to all, creating a welcoming home where every individual is valued, celebrated, and embraced. We are more than a congregation; we are a welcoming home where Christ's love is the foundation, and every person is a cherished member of our extended family. Welcome home!
