“Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.' ” Matthew 7:19
Our Nursery
In Matthew 7:19, Jesus said, ― "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Because we love our children, because we follow Jesus, because we assume care for children in baptism and blessing, and because we are part of a covenant community that has always been called to teach its children, we welcome children and their place in worship. We are excited they want to worship God and we want to assume our responsibility for leading them.
We believe:
- Our congregation should include our children as participants in an increasingly meaningful manner in our worship service.
- Children of school age are capable of participating actively and developing an understanding of the worship service.
- Children of pre-school age can also benefit from the experience of the worship service.
- The child’s development of an understanding of worship is best accomplished when participating in the worship service.
- The role of the parent(s) and other adults as the model for a child attending the worship service is essential to an orderly growth in the understanding of God.
The sound of children actively participating in worship is a blessing for everyone.
Children and young people are ALWAYS welcome in worship at St. Timothy. For those children and youth worshiping with their parents in the sanctuary, children’s worship books, crayons, colored pencils, and children’s Bibles are available for use during worship services. These can be found to the left of the Sanctuary doors as you enter. We simply ask that you return these reusable items following the services so they can be updated and readied for the following week.
For those parents who need a quiet place to go with their children, we have a nursery available to use. The church service is broadcast in the church lobby as well as the nursery. Speak to an usher for directions to our nursery.
